Sorrow At Sea

Yesterday, as the Coast Guard suspended their search for 3 men still missing off of Florida’s western coast, the one man that was rescued from the ordeal, Nick Schyuler, was still being treated for dehydration and hypothermia and remained in intensive care.  I have heard many attempts to speculate on what went wrong out there on that boat, and as comforting as it must be for some to attempt to solve that riddle, I think we owe it to the families of those who are missing to refrain from callously throwing out theories that may be upsetting or even insulting to those who remain hopeful for these men’s safe return.  No one gains from such speculation and in the interim, some might be hurt by it.  In this hour of sorrow and discomfort, let’s try and be supportive and positive, no matter how bleak things may be.
